By Chance

A couple weeks back we came home one evening to discover this dog wandering inside our building lost, whom we rechristened Mellow. Oddly enough she is a blonder version of the Pelado´s former dog who lives in his former home, Serena. The Brittany is Pelado´s favourite breed of dog so we took Mellow in to care for her.

I rather enjoy having a dog, going for long walks three times a day, meeting more of the other doggy neighbours. The house even seemed finally complete. But alas all good things come to an end. By chance we went for a birthday dinner at our Aunt´s house, Who lives far far away, and yet works 80 blocks away from us. We mentioned we had found a Brittany in our building, and she told us the people who lived across from her work lost their Brittany about the same time we found Mellow, who ended up responding to Sol, the name of the lost dog.

With heavy hearts we called the owners of the lost dog, who came to be reunited with Sol. As happy as we were to find the true owners, we were very sad to let her go. She looked very sad to leave us too.

Hi Miss Tango,

Sorry to hear you had to return Mellow/Sol. There is always something about a dog that makes a home feel complete. Not to mention, they are great companions. That's why I love my Zoe (my Shitzu-poodle). It would have been nice for Zoe and Mellow to meet:)

It was very nice to meet Mellow. She was such a cute and (and mellow) dog. :-) Glad she's with her parents but I can see why it would be hard to let such a sweety go.

Erika: Maybe in the new year Zoe can meet our new dog addition. We haven´t chosen a name yet, but we have agreed on a French Bulldog, at least at this moment.

Tina: As you know, Mellow, in the end was not as mellow as she first let on ;)

I like the name Sol for her--she looks bright. I think Brittanys need a lot of exercise, so maybe it's a blessing you didn't get to keep her!

I actually miss walking her. We were going out three times a day and walking about 20 blocks or more each time. I lost over a kilo in a week.

I'm not trying to judge porteños when it comes to dogs, but I feel like I see a lot of "lost" dogs. Sometimes Erika and I see dogs that are stranded, scratching the front door of their owners house. Or we see a dog with tags on, wandering back and forth down the sidewalk. It just, I dunno, makes me sad. This is a roundabout way of me saying I'm sorry Miss Tango. I know how you feel and I hope a new pouch blesses your home soon.

Well you know the first time I came here, even the dogs looked different from back home. Then it was like; "Oh...Ohhh!!!!!!!!!!!They still have their boludos!" I was so used to seeing neutered dogs, the non-neutered looked very strange indeed.
